Lake Tahoe 9/27/12 to 10/5/12

We won a week at Lake Tahoe this past year and left home on Friday Sept. 27th and drove to Yreka, CA where we spent the night at a Super 8 hotel.  It was really pretty nice for the $50.00 plus $5.00 tax.  A king size bed and the breakfast with a waffle maker.  I love the cook your own waffles.  If you are ever in Yreka and want to eat try Grandmas House.  We had a very nice supper.  No complaints here.

Saturday we drove in to Stateline, NV to the Lodge at Kingsbury where we have 5 nights.  We took a trip to Safeway and filled up with groceries.  That was about it for the day.  It gets dark real early here.  A big full moon was worth getting out to see.

Sunday we checked out a few parks on the Lake and saw salmon spawning at a stream close to a forest service park.  We ask about places to find the big sugar pine cones.
Yes Sophie Loves pine cones.  And they weight less than rocks too.

The Salmon were spawning.

Monday we decides to look for rocks and cones.  First stop was the cave rock park.  Of course they wanted money to stop here so we did a quick look around and left.  Then we drove up to Hevenly ski resort to look for cones but came up empty.  Then up to a ridge with a fire look out station but no cones.
