Baby it's COLD outside

December 9th 7:00 AM
So whats up with this weather. In the Willamette Valley where I live we have "mild" weather but it's 15 outside, and my work van is outside. Can you see my gloves stuck to the steering wheel and my seat stuck to the seat. I think it's time to be sick today..................

Christmas lights

So my idea of winterizing Wilbur is to pull up the garage door and drive him in. To get out some of the Christmas lights I needed to back Wilbur out. But the weather is kind of cold right now, like below 32, so Wilbur is not allowed out to long.
I wonder if maybe during the holidays we will drive him to the coast for a night or two. But the weather has to warm up some for that to happen.

The Tornado on the Oregon Coast

Something that happened recently on the Oregon Coast was a Tornado went through the Roads End area of Lincoln City. The last time we were there I took some pictures. Here they are.

The roof was ripped off the white house and the blue house lost a large deck from the front of it. Looking farther to the right and up the hill, several houses lost windows, probably from the junk blowing around in the storm.

The new interior

So the new seats and dinette cushions are in. We did go for a test drive for a few miles and Sophie kind of liked the seats, but she has not give the final decision yet. So take a look .

The Wilbur make over.

11/13/09 Friday the 13th

So I found another 1973 Winnebago Indian, just like Wilbur, that was being parted out in Monroe Oregon.

Now Wilbur had his front seats replaced and this old Bago, I guess it really is the same age as Wilbur, had original seats that had been recovered. So when Jeff brought me the front seats from it I needed to give them a try. The passenger seat is a double wide seat and when I tried it in Wilbur it seemed like a couch. Wall to wall seating. This should work out good for movie night.

On the left is the before then the after picture.
If you look closely you can see the rusty carpet around the seat floor mount. This will take sometime to clean up. If it ever cleans up.

Fall 2009 Jamboree 9/25 - 9/27 Kelso, WA

Another great time was had with my Classic Winnebago friends in the great Northwest. In the last couple of years we get together in April and September to show off our rigs and just enjoy our friendship. All it takes is a place to go shoping for the gals, oh even us guy's enjoy a good store or two, and a place to go dancing. Now don't think that we spoil the girls, but we have found that if the girls are happy then the guys are happy. Just give me a place to set down and talk about motorhomes and I am happy.

Saturday night we had a pot luck supper. This is in Terry and Carolann's rig. We would kick them out of the club, since they don't really have a Winnebago, but we really like to use there rig because it is so large.

We found the local Red Lobster for lunch Saturday.

Terry and Carolann's Georgie Boy with the slide out.

Jeff gets the last bug off his glass. Can you see the reflection of John and Sue's rig on the side.

Susan and Craig brought their Itaska Class C.

The WIT club door mat and flag were displayed.

Two '73 Indians with a '70 in the middle.

9/18/09-9/20/09 Surf City

So we headed back to the coast for another Surf City at the Casino in Lincoln City, OR.  This was probably the 3rd year for us taking Wilbur.  Great car shows and music along with great weather, after the rain early Saturday morning.

Wednesday 9/2/09

I don't know why I have trouble keeping the blog up daily. Guess I need a satellite Internet system so where ever I go I have Internet. Think again guy's. I am way too cheap to do that just for a hobby. Anyway we have been several places since the last post. Lets see, we went home a couple of times, then back to the coast a few times. Even met up with my oldest brother and his wife in Tillamook, OR. We camped out at the blimp hanger dry camp area. It was their first time there. But not there last time since they stoped again on the way back down the coast.

Some work on Wilbur has been touch up paint on the front where my new bike rubbed the paint off. Then I have washed and put gas in the tanks. Seem to put gas in several times.

Now Sophie and I are back to work.

Tuesday 7/28/09

Drove to a breakfast camp on the river in Florence. We have had a few meals along the river here and enjoyed everyone of them. After a walk through town we go and fill up the gas tanks. The cheapest gas for a few years now has been in Florence. At the Fred Meyer with a 10 cent per gallon discount we paid $2.37 a gallon. We drive on into Lincoln City and eat supper at the Casino. Tuesday is one of the coupon days so we eat out. Then we head home.

Monday 7/27/09

We spent last night at a golf course. Now this was a plac e I found on the internet at the Free and cheap RV places. The thing I liked about it was the deer that were there. Well we never saw any deer there but Sophie found some large white rocks in the stream that ran through the course. She thought we should not take them. Good move too since our tires were giving us trouble without the extra weight.

Drove into Bandon for some smoked salmon abd then to the Bullard State Park where we had lunch. Took a tour of the Coquille River Lighthouse. It is still fun to go up in the park where the light use to be and look around.

We then drove to Shore Acres State Park. This is a formal garden built by a man who had a large house from wood collected on the shore from ships in the ocean. And of course I did find a Classic Winnebago along the way.

In Florence we stopped along the river for a supper camp and used the WIFI that Florence has. Then we spent the night at the Three Rivers Casino. Another free dry camp area at another Casino.

7/26/2009

What a day we had today. After eating and cleaning up we drove to Cresent City, CA. We had never been there before and it was foggy on the coast so off we went. Do not bring fresh fruit or vegitables into CA. They stop you at the border and check you. And in Cresent City the sun was out. At the visitors center we learned about the light houses so we had to see them. the first one you could walk out to at low tide so we still had

time to get to it before the water covered the trail. And then we drove up the coast where we stoped and had lunch and a few walks on the beach.

After that we drove up Hwy 199 into the Redwoods. We found a place to stop and walk around several very large trees. I guess these trees were only a thousand years old but they were still very impressive.

After looking at the trees we drove back into Oregon. Stopped in Brookings and took pictures of a Classic Winnebago made into a kitchen.

But it was closed.

7/25/2009

Had a great night at the Dry dock in Port Orford.
This is where we spent Friday night.
Drove on down the Oregon Coast to Brookings where we got a spot to spend the night at the Elks lodge. There were even a few empty places. We then had to find the beach where we picked up special white rocks last year. I think the moved it but we found it anyway.

7/24/2009

We spent the last two nights in North Bend (Coos Bay) at the Mill Casino. They have free dry camping. Today we drove out to the Sunset bay State Park. The weather was finnaly clear and sunny. We parked down by the water and stayed untill it got foggy (a few hours). Then we drove to bandon where it was very windy and sunny.

Then we drove to Port Orford (PO). We have always liked PO but had never stayed here since it was windy and all the State Campgrounds were full. But I remebered seeing a sign down buy the docks so we checked it out. Great place to dry camp for $10.00. Take a look.

7/23/2009

We are in Coos Bay, OR. Spent last night and probably tonight at the Mill Casino Dry camping lot (FREE). But no WIFI until we go down town. The new tires are rolling right along. We got one new tire (less than a year old) free and I bought a new one for our spare. They are both on the front so we should be set with tires for many years.

Sophie is in Macy's and said she will be back in an hour or so. Since I have WIFI she can take here time. I might have to fire up the generator if takes more power for the computer.

We are not sure where we are headed next. The weather on the coast has been foggy or sunny and windy, or foggy and windy and right now it is OK. We just might stay here longer.

7/21/2009

After a week off from vacationing with Wilbur, we were condo camping, we are back on the road.

Well I had a problem yesterday. We drove from home to the coast (Lincoln City, OR) and after visiting the casino we returned to Wilbur only to be told by another RV'r of the bulge on our right front tire. Great, it's 530 and the dealer I need to take it to is 30miles away in Newport Oregon.

The decision is made, after calling everyone who would answer the phone, to drive slowly towards the shop and stay at the Elks lodge in Newport. The shop owner is an Elks member and even called the lodge to make sure they had space for me.

So at 20MPH we drive to the lodge, and spend the night wondering if the tire would blow, or just go flat. In the morning all was good and drove to the shop where they have the new tire to be in at 8:00AM. They even put my old spare on and said to come back in the morning for our free replacement tire. I will also be buying a new tire for a spare. The spare I had was an old tire.

Then last night the bathroom and bedroom light quit working. Of course I fixed it today by pushing the fuse back in place. So we spent a day looking at the ocean.

7/7/09

Guess who showed up at our house today??
I think Ed likes the way Wilbur looks.

Ed, Kathy (SWMBO) and TY. This is a picture of them beside Wilbur with the pop up in the back ground. And they couldn't wait to get back to the beach. They drove from the beach today just to stop by and visit, then it was back to the beach. Now they will know why we like the Oregon Coast.

Our last trip took us up the Oregon Coast and into Washington for a week, and we decided we really like the Oregon Coast better than Washington's.

The last trip with Wilbur was 647 miles of fun. OK I did do some work on Wilbur during the trip, my drivers window latch needed to be glued back on the window (JB Weld) and Sophie got her second cup holder installed. You know two is better than one when it comes to cup holders.

We have been around home this week. Doing yard work and that kind of stuff. The Mustang water pump started leaking so I changed that and have built a platform on the rear bumper of Wilbur to set our Generator when dry camping. It looks better to not have the Gen just setting on the ground.

Sunday June 28th

This morning we woke up at the Tillamook Elks campground. Don't you just hate the big crowds on the coast during the Summer. This lodge is working on another RV area with pull thru's and full hookups. Maybe next year we will stay here again.

We found a nice place to spend some time. It was funny to see all the people who thought they could drive out next to the ocean only to get stuck. Wilbur could see the water just fine from here.

Back in Lincoln City we watch the sun set. We feel like we are home since we spend a lot of time in this town. The plan is to drive home tomorrow after B'fast.

6/27/06

Saturday June 27th Starting mileage 1959

The lady who loved Wilbur. We have had several people coment on how nice Wilbur is but this lady really had a thing about Classic Winnebagos. She even has the Tonka Indian at home in new condition and knows the name of the people and dog that came with them.

6/26/09

Friday June 26th Starting miles 1860

We were woke up by the secretary of the lodge and told we should be out of the bank lot by 8:00. It was 7:45. So the coffee was started and we got dressed and drove to breakfast along the bay in
South Bend, WA . A nice place to eat.

We drove back into OR and parked along the Mighty Columbia River for lunch. There was a place that smoked fish so we bought some for a great smoked Salmon salad for lunch. They have a trolly that runs along the river now that some cruise ships stop here.

In Seaside, OR we look at the ocean from inside Wilbur.

6/25/09

Thursday June 25th. Start Mileage 1798. We have driven 339 miles on this trip.
OK I will try to do this in the morning instead of at night.
We have made B'fast and will drive over to the beach soon to start our day looking for shells and agates. We hope the weather clears up and the wind dies down.

This is on the South tip of Ocean Shores, WA. We found many rocks and shells.

Wilbur found a long lost relative. This is at a 4 wheeler track. No one around to talk to so we took a picture and left.

Very funny guys. No steps so I guess it it was handicaped accessible. And I really wanted to use it too.

In Raymond, WA they like to paint murals on buildings. This is at Ugly Ed's. Lots of junk, er I mean ""stuff" to look at.
