The Holley carb continued.

So I have a Holley street Advenger, and since someone who didn't really understand it (even less than I know) installed this carb I have been fixing it.  First was to install the correct spring and holder to make the transmission kickdown linkage work.  And then adjust the carb so it would open fully when I pushed the gas peddle  down.  Something that might be good going up a big hill.

I have been cleaning up some of the emission hoses that were in the way.  Now the last part is the clip to hold the kickdown rod on the carb.  And I picked that up today.  Maybe this week before Christmas I just might take it for a drive and see how it works.

Have a Holley jolly Christmas.

Today was a trip to the Oregon State Capitol for one of our nephews school chior programs.
And the tree looked great again this year.

And for the Holley carb in Smokey, I have been getting an education.  What I thought was a model 4180 turned out to be a replacement carb called an Advenger 670.  Kind of an upgrade but this explaines why the throttle cable was not quite right when I got it.
This is what I have.  And with some more knowledge I just might get things working better.

Wilbur goes out for a drive.

Wilbur still runs just fine.  Now that the driveway is clear of RV's I can take Wilbur out easy.   And it was a sunny day when we left home.   By the time we returned home the sun was setting.
And the latest news with Weight Watchers is that I have finished my 6 weeks of maintenance since making my goal weight.  Now I am a lifetime member and Sophie is at goal.
We are very happy with our weight loss and recommend WW for anyone.
Bring on the feasts.

The RV storage lot

So the drive to try out the new shocks never really happened since it has been windy for a couple of days.  But I took Smokey to storage.  I could spend time there just looking at RV's.
This custom has always interested me.
How cool would this cleanup.

The shocks are on

Today I changed all the shocks on Smokey.  The old ones were dead.
Front ones are 555011 and rears are 555012.
I bought them from shocks.com.  $135.00 delivered.
The old ones and the new ones.
Now to give it the test drive,  after I have lunch and warm up.

Superchief work

The new shocks should be here tomorrow, but I have been working on something I have wanted to do for awhile. I removed the beltline trim on the left side.   It was not sealed good so water had gotten in and some delam was going on.
So what is behind this trim?   It looks like there is sheet metal that screws went in.
Some screws were completely rusted away.
After I get it all cleaned up I will try to put it back together with new sealant and new stainless steel screws.

The anniversary outing

Can you believe it's been a whole year since smokey followed me home.  And the first outing a year ago was to Eugene.  So we decided to go there again.  The first time we were checking to see if I had the oil leak fixed.  This time I wanted to see it the wheels would fall off.
After getting new tires put on and driving about 200 miles for out Halloween outing I had a few loose lug nuts on the RR wheel.  And the only way to check it out was to hit the road.  So next week I will take it back to Les Schwab and see if they just didn't do a good job of putting the wheels on the first time.
But it was a good outing to Eugene even if the Ducks didn't play there best game.

The Halloween outing.

Some of the classic Winnebagos braved saint helens for the weekend.  There were parades and haunted houses.  We took in the parade and toured the town.
Terry found some friends to hangout with.
And when he put on his thinking hat no one stood to close to him.

And then there was the dump station in Rainier

New jewelry for me.

Yea it's not common for me to look at jewelry but I was afraid I would loose my old wedding ring since I lost some weight.  That's 62.8 pounds to be exact.   What do you think ?
Kind of matches the original ring of one from 38 years ago.  We bought it at a little jewelry shop in florence oregon.
My ring is the one without the diamond.

I'm so proud of our government.

In honor of our government shutdown, and how many of the voters have been  inconvenienced,  lets be sure to vote for them again.  My only plan is to keep from paying more retirement pay to more politicians.  And when everyone of them is dead and gone we can start the game over again.  Oh I guess that won't work either.  Never mind this post.
But I did take smokey back to Les Schwab and get the hoses to the tires on this side.  You can see the two braided hoses are stretched tight.  We'll. this is how they look now.

My goal has been reached

Today I got up and weighted myself,  like I do most days.   Only today was the least I have weighted for I don't know how long. And since we were going to weigh in this morning, not our regular day for WW but we are heading to the coast for a week, I put on my lightest clothes and drove down to the WW store.  They open up at 7:00 AM on Friday so it was kind of dark out or I might have walked down.  Anyway I made my goal weight. This is a weight my doctor said was a healty weight.  So the next step is to keep within 2 pounds above or below my goal weight for 6 weeks and then I get the prestigious award of LIFETIME MEMBER.  That means Halloween might be kind of lean around our house.

I found a Bago at Lake Tahoe.

Hard to believe but right here in the Stateline NV area I found this beauty.
Did I tell you I miss my Bagos.

Were home again

After 2,100 miles on the car and a couple of weeks condo camping we were ready to come home.  Our sons wedding went as planned, except for the ring bearer needing some help to close a gash in the head and missing the wedding.  And there was no trouble with the car.
But the "owner education" at the condo in Lake Tahoe was more than upsetting.  We have only been a Worldmark owner for 19 years and they really wanted us to update our ownership by giving them more money.  Fat chance that will happen.
But we really enjoy our RV's when we stay closer to home.  And the condos we use are really top notch when going farther away.

Lake Tahoe

Today is our last day around the lake.  We did some rock collecting and visited a few boutiques in nearby towns.  So the car is now weighted down incase we get snow tonight.   The road crew was spraying stuff on the main road above 7,000 feet so there is a chance of something tonight.
Sunset on the lake.

Pictures from Yosemite Park

Here are some of the pictures I took on our trip there for our sons wedding in September 2013.

This is half dome from the North.. We took the Tioga Road from the Village to the East gate of the Park.

Lake Tahoe.

From our front deck.

We now have a DIL (daughter in law)

The wedding went off without a hitch.  Except for the ring bearer.  He ran into a wall and cut his forehead just before the big event.  Then got to visit the local medical center.  He is only 2 so his dad who is a policeman and him missed the wedding.
Pictures to follow.
The bride getting ready ready to go.  Sorry but this is the only picture I got on my phone of the bride.
My wife and daughter.

My wife and I with my daughter and her husband.

The mothers of the bride and groom.

Modesto to Fresno.

The worst part of the trip was driving from Sacramento to Stockton.  Everywhere was under construction.  Hwy 99 is the main road and zipping along bumper to bumper with a 18 wheeler next to a very tall barricade is not my idea of fun. Lets hope we don't go back that way again.
And this butterfly was attracted to my wife's swim suit.  This was the first time she ask me to take a picture of her chest.

Modesto CA

Today was a great day. My wife's birthday and I got her a present.  Well a couple of them really.  And here at a super 8 they have a nice pool to relax around until we head to FAT tomorrow and pick up our daughter and SIL.
Our room is on the left side of the picture.  And I was to lazy to move the chair out of the picture.

Eagles Aerie in Medford OR

Today I stopped by the Eagles in Medford to see the RV spots.  They look good to me.  5 places with elect and water for $10.00.  I took a picture  but it is on my iPhone and I will have to load it up later.  Close to the shopping center and although I didn't  go into the Aerie it looked busy for lunch.  And this morning= when we were loading up the car at home I was almost ready to take Smokey on this trip.. In the car we have NO closet, NO fridge, NO room.  We will see how this goes when we pick up our Daughter and SIL at the Fresno airport Wednesday.

New tires are on

All set to hit the road when we have time.
How cool are shiny new tires.
Les Schwab installed Double Coin tires.

Is it Christmas yet?

You know you are getting old when you walk into the store and see holiday stuff and wonder what month this is.   But Christmas in the first week in September?    Yea fred Meyer has Christmas lights on the shelf today.  And is this an ad on the TV from Kmart for Christmas?
So yesterday I put new brake pads on the front of put new Camry, well it was new when we bought it in 2005 115,000 miles ago.

I'm tired of tires

If you only knew how much time I have put into looking at tires for Smokey you might think I'm nuts.  OK you probably know that I like a good deal DUH so tires should be the same decision.   I looked and looked.   Talked and talked.  And decided if you have a cheap RV you can have cheap tires.  So I am getting a new set of Double Coin tires.   And getting them at my own place,  Les's place.  That's Les Schwab.  So if you try to find a really great tire plenty of people will help you with the best tire is XXX and then the next guy hates them.  So if I get bad tires I will let you know.

And we picked some apples today.  Man is there a great crop this year.  All of them so you can just walk up and pick without a ladder.

Labor Day at the Coast

What could be better than this. And my Dish satellite worked great. We had a a concert at the chinook winds casino Saturday night and took advantage of the Boomer breakfast before leaving town on Tuesday morning.

Camping with friends

As a sort of last minute outing a group of us decided to meet up in Lincoln city OR for the Labor Day Weekend.

And last night most of us saw the Fab Four at the Chinook Winds Casino.  Watching great music with friends.  It doesn't get any better than that does it?

Roof leaks and tires

Wouldn't you know it that after I fix up the lawn sprinkler system the rain comes?  Last week, or was it this week I replaced some of the valves in my yard.
And now we are setting at the beach with it just pouring outside.  Hey that just gives me a chance to check out the roof repairs I did on Smokey.  So far no leaks.

And I have been looking at new tires too. When I bought Smokey I checked the tires and found the front tires looked great.  One was 6 years old but the other one had the date on the inside of the tire and it was 11 years old.  They look identical.  And the rears are the older 8r19.5 size.  About 7 years old and some small cracks.  So next week I will be looking at tires since we seem to enjoy Smokey and have plans for many more years of using it.

The eagle has landed

I am officially an eagle now.  Well as soon as they put a new cartridge in the printer and run me off a membership card.  They did give me a key to the door.  Now to check out some Eagle Aeries and see how the RV spots look.
I joined Portland #4 in Tigard.  It is close to our daughters house and I can remember a number like 4.  My Elks lodge number has 4 digits.
Now my goal is to check out and record the Eagles RV places.  The Elks have a large following of RVers who keep up a website of the lodges and what each of them have.  The Eagles have a list of places http://www.foe.com/camping-facilities.aspx

The car show

This isn't really all about a car show but about a long weekend of celebrating some friends 50th wedding anniversary.  So here are some pictures.  And I get the older Winnebago out for this great outing.
It started with a family BBQ on Thursday evening followed by a dinner and dancing at the gateway Elks lodge on friday where this picture was taken.  Did you know that sophie and I have lost 100 pounds together.

This is at the Unger Resort.  Yea my Mustang and RV are on the left.
We lined up at the car show.
And at the show we had cars too.
Someone forgot to put the top down.
