Schooner Landing 2/9/09
We got up early. about 6:30 and saw the moon over the ocean. What a view.

Now at 9:30 AM it's snowing. Most people never see it snow at the beach but we have seen this a few times.

Then the Sun came out later.

And finally the Sun set into the clouds.

Schooner Landing 2/6/09 - 2/??/09
It's time to go back to the coast again. This time at our condo in Schooner Landing Newport, OR.
The past Winter has been hard on this place. The land has slid in a fault that goes thru the resort. We will have to see what Mother Nature can do VS what man can do. So here we are on vacation. Saturday night the local Elks lodge had a dance so we went. In the Summer we would stop by for the RV lot. Electric, wifi, water and cable TV. Great place to stop with even a view of the bridge on 101. Anyway if you ever want to know about the Elks just ask one. Great bunch of people and they have RV spots on the Coast too.

The CCR concert at Chinook Winds Casino
This last weekend (1/23/09 - 1/25/09) my wife and I enjoyed another wonderful trip to the Oregon Coast. This time I had won a couple of nights at the Ashley Inn hotel, courtesy of KBZY radio station in Salem Oregon. Nothing is better that free nights at a nice place. And I planned it while CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revisited) http://www.creedence-revisited.com/was at the Casino. Now of all the concerts we have been able to see, over all the years, I would have to say that this was one of the best shows we have seen. High energy and just plain fun. Setting next to my bride of 32 years, I could remember times before we had met. And that was a while ago. But only the drummer (Doug "Cosmo" Clifford) and bass (Stu Cook) were original members of CCR. They put on a very good show.
Another thing that was great to do was when we found out from a local person, about one of the highest places in Lincoln City to view the ocean. I would tell you where this is but then everyone would know about it. I was told you could see the curvature of the earth from there. Next time I will bring a straight edge to check this out. Wilbur might not be able to drive to this place but close enough to walk to the top. I hope to get you a panorama picture from this place if it comes out so you can see the view.

Polishing the aluminum on Wilbur
Well the front bumper is ready to bolt on after being blasted and repainted, but now I thought I would clean up the grill. Now if you ever saw the '73 Indian that Jeff from Seattle owns, you would know what I need to do. So I pick up 40 new screws to replace the rusty old screws that hold the grills on the front of Wilbur. I ended up making another trip to the True Value hardware store for another 40 screws before calling it a day. Here are some pictures of the process. The secret to the shiny aluminum is "SOS". Now I need to buy more SOS since there is none to be found in our house.
The old screws
Some new screws
Kind of rusty, huh
Looks kind of nice now
Look ma, no teeth
